Vintage Machinist Toolbox

History. Rehabilitated.

Machinist toolboxes tell a story - of dedication, precision and skill. The age of this toolbox is unknown but we suspect early to mid 1900s. It is considered a 'transition' piece, being made of both metal and wood. The traditional vintage machinist toolboxes are wooden, with modern toolboxes made of hard wearing metal.

When we found this piece it had clearly been worked hard and received little attention in years. Our vision was to bring this piece back to life, and showcase its unique attributes. We chose to emphasize the metal casing and contrast this with the wood drawers. Combined with beautiful new drawer linings, the rehabilitated toolbox is a head-turner!

The toolbox now lives with its proud new owner, a retired machinist who was struck by the functional beauty of the piece.
